The Victorian Guild of China Painters (VGCP) Inc. aims to encourage and promote the art of China Painting. The Guild provides the opportunity for members to meet, discuss and practice the art of hand-painted porcelain.
The VGCP arranges and holds exhibitions and demonstrations for the mutual benefit of all members, at all levels, from beginners to teachers. This enables members to gain wide exposure to, and keep in touch with, what is happening in the world of China Painting. The VGCP issues six magazines per year (free to members), has a library of books and art videos which are all available for borrowing by members at no charge.
The Guild has also established an important Historical Collection of significant works from Australian artists, depicting the advancement of China Painting in Australia from the earliest through to contemporary times.
The objectives of the Guild:
- To provide opportunities for members to meet, discuss and practice the art of China Painting.
- To arrange and hold exhibitions and demonstrations for the mutual benefit of all members.
- To encourage and promote the art of China Painting.
- To establish an Historical Collection of significant works of Australian Artists, depicting the advancement of china painting in Australia, from the earliest times through to contemporary.
New members to the Guild are always welcomed and encouraged.
