The Historical Collection of the Victorian Guild of China Painters Inc. is a collection of fine porcelain works of art by Australian artists, painted in Australia, from earliest settlement to the current day.

“For the Guild to go on growing its collection with pieces that represent the highest standards and most innovative ideas from the painters of today, as well as those of yesterday, will mean that future members, as well as art lovers, will have a wonderful ongoing record to enthuse and inspire them.”

Mrs. Patricia Begg, OAM.

The Collection

In 1990, Guild member Val Crerar proposed the establishment of a historical collection of our own Porcelain Art for permanent public display, to not only celebrate the art and the artists, but also inspire and inform the public and future artists. Over the years the Historical Collection has grown substantially, becoming the largest collection of its type in Australia.  Unfortunately, the collection is temporarily in storage until a new home can be found where it can again be displayed for public view.  The VGCP publication “Victorian Guild of China Painters – The Historical Collection 2004”, contains the collection of artist’s profiles and some of their work in full colour illustration.
